Hid Kits - Types and its usage
A lighting technology that replaces the filament of a light bulb with Xenon gas is HID. Hid Kits or high intensity discharge kits are either the lights or bulbs for your car or motor cycles. In short these are light conversion kits. These provide 3 times more light than usual at nights which help drive easily and thus safely too. Normal bulbs or lights have halogen filled in with them, but Hid kits have Xenon filled up with in them.
Hid kits comprises of Hid bulbs, His ballasts, wires, clamps and screws. Since HID Kits are very popular, these are categorised based on their fitment plug and size of the bulb thus ranging from H1 to H12. One other categorisation can be on the usage of power in watts which can be depicted b the word W on the bulb. The more the value of the W, the more the light is. K stands for Kelvin and hence 2000K represents a bulb in which gas will burn at 2000 Kelvin, thus temperature can mainly affect the colour of the light. Low beam / High beam are other types which are distinguished based on the intensity of the beam.
Ballast is a device which controls how the bulb works, by controlling the quantity of current reaching it. Digital Ballasts are improvised version of the older magnetic ones.
Hid kits are designed to last for your vehicle life ranging between 2400 hours to 2500 hours of usage.
